Honduras, Santa Rosa de Copan – The Hospital Occidente in Santa Rosa de Copan is supported by U.S. and Honduran NGOs and provides medical care for approximately one million people. CAEC has partnered with CAMO, the Robles family of ophthalmologists, and Hospital Occidente in Santa Rosa to support the delivery of eye care in Western Honduras and to provide educational opportunities for other ophthalmologists at the facilities in Santa Rosa. In addition, CAEC supports the employment of two full-time CAMO employees in the eye clinic and the dedicated modern ophthalmology OR with the Hospital Occidente, which was donated by CAEC. The younger Robles ophthalmologists are now being trained around the world in advanced surgical techniques which they will bring back to Honduras and Central America.
Santa Ana, El Salvador – CAEC has partnered with Clínica Quesada in San Salvador and the Universidad Católica de El Salvador to provide eye care at a free-standing clinic on the university campus. This facility will provide examinations and surgery and will be an open access surgical facility for the local ophthalmologists.
